Michael Steele Should Not Have Apologized
This month, Michael Steele said that Rush Limbaugh was "an entertainer" and that his comments were usually "incendiary" and "ugly" on the Hughley Show. As a Republican politician is expected to, he must convince people and compromise on ideas when necessary. Michael Steele was right to emphasize that he is the Republican Party leader not Rush Limbaugh. Later however, he apologized to Rush Limbaugh about those comments, confirming Hughley's fear that Rush Limbaugh was the "De facto leader" of the Republicans.
Michael Steele is a politician, and he has many different perspectives to please. I suppose he felt he needed to repair his relations with Rush. I don't agree. Rush Limbaugh does not even represent a majority of the Republicans in America. He represents a portion of conservatives, and he makes different opinions about different events. These opinions are not always agreed upon.
When I listen to Rush Limbaugh, as a Republican, I don't agree with everything he says. I can sometimes completely disagree. His job is really the enforcer. He just bashes everyone, that's what people like about him. Basically his job is to criticize anyone who goes against what he believes conservatism is.
Sometimes we join him in this "criticizing"; however, we don't constantly agree with him and he's not a leader. If he was a leader, he would have ran for office.
As a talk show host, he says billions of things on the air. And sometimes they aren't very well thought out. So yes, he makes mistakes a lot. This is why the Democratic party has TARGETED Rush Limbaugh as an easy straw man.
I'm sure as a person who listens to Rush, you don't always agree with him either. Michael Steele did not have to apologize at all. Rush being the provocateur that he is, attacked him and criticized him as well. This was disrespectful of Rush. I think Rush should have apologized to Michael Steele.
Now all he has done is damage the Republican party, by not only criticizing a Republican leader but also making him apologize and being a brat about it. Of course, such work has helped him greatly, increased his ratings, and made him more popular.
The reality is Rush Limbaugh has sacrificed the party for his own benefit. Some Republicans will staunchly disagree with me, but they are in denial.
Rush Limbaugh may have smart opinions at times, but to hold him at such a high seat will only lead to defeat. Rush Limbaugh should be working extra hard to get himself off of that straw man mode. He needs to dethrone himself if he wants the party to win more elections.
Rush Limbaugh was right to want liberalism to fail. I wouldn't want Liberalism to take the credit for future economic success. However, if we're wrong, we're wrong--hypothetically, if indeed Obama's liberal policies did indeed perfect the economy miraculously (it won't happen), then perhaps its time we modified our own Republican policies.
Republicans need to stick together, and stick by their leaders. I'm tired of conservatives and other people criticizing Republican leaders and politicians as "weak" or "not conservative enough," this leads us to no where but defeat. Let our Republican leaders do their jobs and stop bashing them pointlessly.
I think we've come to a point where we think we know more about politics than our own politicians.

"Let our Republican leaders do their job"
Well the Republican leaders decided that in order to win they have to be Democrats only a little better? And you have seen where that has gotten us, they nominated a candidate this past election whose main claim to fame is he routinely goes on the MSM as a puppet of the left to agree about how awful the conservatives are? Brilliant!
If the "Republican leaders" had followed Rush's advice over the past 2 years, this country wouldn't be saddled with an inexperienced, inept full-blown marxist as President. But NO, the "Republican leadership" thought that running a candidate who was more hostile to the base of the Republican party than to his opponent was the way to go? How did that work out for you?
You must like losing? Your "Republican leadership" keeps taking a knife to a gun fight and wondering why they end up getting their arses kicked. I will leave you with the following...when is the last time your beloved MSM have grilled Obama or Pelosi or Reid about their need to be bi-partisan? That only happens when the Republicans are in power and you fools fall for it every time.
Where did McCain agree that conservatives were bad? Did you ever consider the possibility that if McCain had acted more like a conservative such as Rush Limbaugh, that he wouldn't have even had 45% of the vote?
Imagine, if all the states were blue... Like Ronald Reagan's election where all the states were red. McCain did an excellent job of managing the media. Toward the end, he folded to people like Rush Limbaugh who wanted him to be "stronger" and "harsher" and as a result he lost. The whole terrorism association thing, backfired. The economy was a major factor in the loss. Sarah Palin's horrible interviews were a major factor. McCain made almost no gaffes. In different circumstances, McCain would have won a landslide.
Obama kept advertising how he would be bi-partisan, how he was above "partisan politics." McCain was defeating him on that, so he started to focus his campaign on the economy. It was an effective strategy. It didn't mean that McCain's strategy was bad. It was simply that the Economy took the forefront of the news. Priorities changed.
McCain wasn't hostile to anything. He had made some bad choices in early 2000s when voting. He was always apologizing for that.
McCain was winning the election at one point before the economic collapse, we must remember that. If we ignore these facts, we are going to lose more and more elections.
How many losses will convince you that we need to stop being so alienating of different perspectives? We need to focus on our arguments for foreign policy, economy, and defense... Instead we were playing partisan politics and it has backfired. Calling Obama a Marxist all the time-----HOWEVER true that is--- was disastrous.
