Progressivism and Anti-Progressivism
People forget that the real progressives in this country are the Republicans. People forget that Theodore Roosevelt was a Republican first, and then became the founder of a Progressive Party. People want to be progressive, it's human nature; however, sometimes people mislead other people in the name of progressivism.
Like all religions, people can manipulate religion to control the masses to do good or to do evil. It is simply sociology. It is the same with ideologies, they are no different than religion. People will always twist facts to spin a new conclusion.
It happens a lot more than you think, and you usually don't even notice.
One of the major problems is peoples' tendency to idolize others without fact or evidence to idolize them. The other problem is peoples' tendency to believe conclusions rather than understand facts and form their own logical conclusions.
Today, in the US the Democratic party tries to spin the facts to create the conclusion that they are the progressive party and that they are fairer and more modern. This is a falsehood.
The Republican party is the one seriously promoting free market economies, a progressive idea; though democrats are not against free market they sure create problems for it. The Republican party is advocating equality in laws (immigration), fighting welfare-like systems, and socialist policies--these are all progressive modern ideas.
The Republican party is the one fighting for equality in laws when opposing illegal immigration. Why should our families who came to this country with blood and sweat abiding by the laws be undermined by illegal aliens jumping the border and furthermore being rewarded by the Democratic party for breaking the law?
The Democratic party spins this to make the Republican party look like they are anti-immigration or anti-minority, which is a disgusting propaganda campaign.
What about the Democratic parties anti-progressive ideas? Such as taxing the rich to make it "fairer" for the poor, a completely class-warfare socialist idea!
The Democratic Party is anti-progressive. The Democratic party tries to tell people that Republicans are anti-secular (separation of church and state) or are against people of different religious beliefs or are xenophobic. These are all not true.
Republicans are very open to all sorts of perspectives and backgrounds.
It's all about perception, and the Democratic party has become the master at propaganda and forming perceptions and biases, all while making themselves the victims.
Use your logic, stop letting other people, or the television tell you how to think. They've demonized Fox News by focusing on their commentators or guests who have said odd/offensive statements, but that's the channel that is reporting the facts and letting you arrive at the conclusion.
Democrats are ANTI-Progressive! When will people realize that?
Democrats are not anti progressive at all. Actually what the author failed to mention was to pass progressive policies it took a liberal democratic / progressive ( left leaning ) republican coalition to pass progressive policies because more conservative republicans block great legislation like workmen comp, welfare, and the progressive tax.

Sir, the progressives,including TR, trampled allover the constitution and snatched powers that are not enumerated. If that is what you are inferring when stating the modern RHINO is similar to the progressive of old, then I must agree.
The progressives gave us the sedition act (1917), the draft, suspension of habeus corpus, advocated vigilanteism ,and racial separatism, SSI, unions, welfare, federal public education, socialized industry, insane environmental laws etc...
While a return to free market capitalism, constitutional rule by the citizens and respect for the individual would represent "progress", the term "progressive" as a political label should never be applied to a conservative.
The label in America for the time has been misused as representative of Democrats and liberals.
My point was that, the term progressive, indicating demand for progress, technology, modernism, and adaptive behavior, are characteristics of the current conservatives. Currently, people in America are using progressive as a compliment to indicate a modern person, and conservative to indicate a primitive/backward person, and this is the label I am fighting.
